The Qualification & Experience for the above post(s) are as under:
Post 1: Scientific Officer (E) (Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology)
There are three posts; one each for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Essential: Ph.D with minimum 60% marks in post graduation and graduation or equivalent grade in Physics/Chemistry/Biology. A minimum of 8 years experience in teaching / research / lab infrastructure development after post graduation in an educational institution of national repute.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 50 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 2: Administrative Officer - III
Essential: A post graduate degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade. A minimum of 8 years administrative/academic administration experience, of which minimum 3 years in a supervisory/superintendent capacity in a Govt. dept, central University/Technological Institution of national standing etc. The experience could be in one field or in combination thereof.
Desirable: Recognized post graduate qualification in management and/or degree in Law/General Administration.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 55 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 3: System Administrator
Essential: Masters in Computer Application with 60% marks and at least three years of experience in maintenance of servers and handling packages related to educational institution of national repute.
Desirable: Experience in web development tools related to office automation domain.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 35 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 4: System Manager
Essential : Masters in Computer Application with 60% marks and two years of experience in handling packages related to educational institution of national repute.
Desirable: Experience in web development tools related to office automation domain.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 30 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 5: Section Officer (Accounts/ Admin/ Stores/ Purchase)
Essential: Post graduate degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade. Minimum 8 years of experience in office management / administration / academic administration / accounts / purchase / stores section , of which 2 years experience preferably in an educational institution / R&D institution / central govt depts.
Desirable: Diploma in computers.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 45 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 6: Scientific Assistant (C) - Civil
Essential : Diploma / Licentiate in Civil Engineering (3 yrs after SSC) with minimum 60% marks in Diploma. 4 yrs of experience in the field of supervision of civil works such as concreting, form work, reinforcement works and finishing works such as brick work, plastering, flooring, roofing including measurement etc.
Desirable : Diploma in computers.

Post 7: Office Assistant (Multi Skill)
Essential : Bachelor's degree with minimum 1 year experience in handling office administration i.e handling works in sections such as accounting, academics, personnel matters, stores, purchase, library etc preferably in an organization / educational institution of national repute.
Desirable: Diploma in Computers with proficiency in usage of office packages, Tally, library software etc.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 40 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 8: Lab Technician
Essential : Bachelor's degree in Science with Major in Physics/Chemistry/Biology with 45% marks and three years work experience in assisting faculty/researchers/students in a laboratory in an educational institution of national repute.
Desirable : Diploma in Computers with proficiency in usage of office packages.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 35 years as on 1.5.2009
Post 9: Tradesman (Library)
Essential : Bachelor's degree in Arts/Science/Commerce. Diploma in Library Science from a recognized institute / university. Three years post qualification experience in any reputed educational institution.
Desirable : Knowledge of computers like MS Office, DOS etc.
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 40 years as on 1.5.2009
General Information
- The prescribed qualification is minimum and the mere fact that the candidate possesses the same will not entitle him / her to be called for interview.
- Candidates applying for more than one post may apply separately for each post indicating the name and post code of the post.
- The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview/selection test to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualification and experience, higher than those prescribed in this advertisement.
- The institute reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications/experience in exceptional cases, or in the case of persons already holding analogous positions in a University/research institution; and to consider the names of suitable candidates who may not have applied for the post.
- Relaxation in age, educational qualification and / or experience will be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates, with prior approval of the competent authority.
- The institute also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
- Persons who are appointed against the above posts, will be covered under the New Pension Scheme as notified by the Government of India, Ministry of Finance.
- Persons working under the Central/State Govt./Public Sector Undertakings / central autonomous bodies should submit their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application along with enclosures as required to the address given below. Those who are unable to process their application through proper channel, they may submit their NOC during the time of interview. However they should submit an undertaking in that effect. Direct application from such candidates will not be entertained.
- To-and-fro rail fare by the shortest route, being limited to AC-III Sleeper class for posts at S.No. 1 & 2 and Second Sleeper class for posts at S.No 3 to 6 will be paid to all the candidates called for interview.
- Relaxation of minimum standards for reserved categories will be as per the current norms prescribed by the Govt. of India. All the candidates called for interview for the post from S.No 5 to 9 will have to appear in tests designed to assess computer literacy.
- The Institute reserves its right to offer lower post if the candidate is not found suitable for the post applied for. Higher initial basic pay may be given to exceptionally qualified and deserving candidate(s).
- Age relaxation for SC/ST and women candidates is applicable as per government norms.
- No interim enquires / correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
- Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.
- Application incomplete in any respect and not accompanied by relevant certificate / documents / photograph etc will be summarily rejected.
COPIES OF CERTIFICATES TO BE ATTACHED
Candidates should submit along with their application duly attested (by a Gazetted Officer) copy of:
a) Certificates pertaining to Educational qualifications/experience and technical qualifications (supported by appropriate mark sheets indicating the subjects offered at the examinations).
b) Certificate of date of birth.
c) Certificate in support of their claim that they belong to SC/ST/OBC. However candidates belonging to OBC should furnish the Caste certificate in the prescribed format of the Department of Personnel & Training OM dated 2.7.1997 as prescribed in Annexure 1 of the said O.M to the effect that they are not in the creamy layer failing which their claim for OBC will not be accepted.

- The Application and the outer cover should be superscribed as "Application for the post of ___________________________ against Advertisement No.__________".
- A recent colored passport size photograph should be affixed on the right hand top corner of the application.
- Applications should be accompanied with a non-refundable demand draft of Rs.200/- drawn in favor of "THE DIRECTOR, NISER" payable at Bhubaneswar. SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates are not required to submit demand draft. The candidates should write their name and post applied for on the backside of the demand draft.
The completed application, with relevant certificates for qualifications and experiences, age etc in a sealed envelope must reach (by post only) the Institute on or before 31.7.2009 at the address given below. If a delay is foreseen in obtaining all the clearances for serving officials, extension of a reasonable period may be given in exceptional cases on specific request provided an advance copy of the application is sent by the due date.
