Abstract of the Talk

This talk is devoted to the famous “impossible” problems of geometry. The problems are trisecting an angle, squaring the circle, constructing an arbitrary polygon and doubling the cube. Each of the problems seems to be simple, but they have occupied the minds of brilliant mathematicians since antiquity. These problems are interesting as they took almost 2000 years to be completely settled. Almost no prerequisites, except familiarity with geometry.
