42nd DAE-SOHPM

DAE Safety and Occupational Health Professionals Meet 2026
Safety & Well-being for Sustainable growth towards Viksit Bharat

21-23 December 2026
NISER Bhubaneswar, INDIA

Theme for Industrial Safety

Industrial safety in modern industries integrates technology, human factors, and leadership to create a resilient and sustainable workplace. AI, digitalization, and Industry tools such as IoT and smart systems enable predictive monitoring and automation, while Behaviour-Based Safety programs focus on reducing unsafe actions by addressing human factors. Proactive and preventive safety strategies, aligned with vision zero, emphasize anticipating risks and strengthening investigations. A strong safety culture, reinforced by leadership commitment, ensures compliance and employee engagement. Emerging technologies like wearables, robotics, and drones enhance hazard detection, while Process Safety Management safeguards against catastrophic risks in complex operations. Electrical safety, working-at-height protocols, and proper use of PPE with ergonomic practices remain vital for frontline protection. Contract worker safety initiatives extend responsibility to all workforce segments, ensuring inclusivity and livelihood security. Human-machine interaction frameworks balanced automation with necessary human oversight, and safety programs tied to well-being and sustainable growth support the national visions such as Viksit Bharat. Altogether, these elements converge into a unified vision: safety as the foundation for a better, innovative, and sustainable industrial future.

Theme for Occupational Health

Occupational health integrates physical, mental, and environmental safeguards to ensure worker well-being and sustainable productivity. Mental health, stress management, and sleep-related issues are addressed through supportive programs that promote resilience and behavioral awareness. Digitalization, AI, and Virtual Reality enhance medical records, training, and monitoring, while medical surveillance through annual checkups, BMI tracking, and illness screening ensures early detection of risks. Ergonomics and injury prevention reduce musculoskeletal strain, and workplace wellness initiatives foster healthier environments. Vigilance against occupational diseases and non-communicable conditions strengthens long-term health outcomes, while ethical practice in the medical profession upholds trust and integrity. Radiation hazards demand strict personal safety protocols, reinforcing the importance of protective measures. Together, these elements form a holistic framework where technology, ethics, and proactive care converge to safeguard workers' health and well-being.
