T he objective of the workshop is to arrange a platform for the students and researchers who are pursuing their research in the area of spintronics, thin films, nanostructures and multilayers, to interact with eminent scientists and experts, share opinion and assess the recent developments in these areas. This workshop will be a venue for students and young scientists to discuss with the experts the state-of-the-art of the research pursued in the field of spintronics. Experts will also discuss the challenges in this broad research topic which will initiate much collaboration work in order to make significant progress in this branch of science.
National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, is a research institution funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India. NISER is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, a deemed research university. The main aim of NISER is to train and nurture motivated world class researchers who will take up challenging research and teaching assignments in universities, research laboratories, and industries. This institute is dedicated to pursue cutting edge research along with both undergraduate and graduate education. It offers a five-year integrated M.Sc., integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. and Ph.D. degrees in basic sciences. The campus of NISER is situated across ~300 acres of land, in Jatni, Khurda, Odisha (25 kms from Bhubaneswar airport).
School of Physical Sciences (SPS) of NISER is in pursuit of excellence in research and teaching. It is engaged in very active research in the frontier areas. Physics of the macro world and micro world are being vigorously explored. The school offers the integrated M.Sc., integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. and Ph.D. programme in Physics to highly motivated students. The research areas of SPS are widespread in the fields of magnetic materials, multiferroics, spintronics, dielectrics, nanofabrication and photonics, solid state ionic, spectroscopy and transport studies, nonlinear optics and semiconductor lasers, ultra-cold atoms & quantum optics, statistical mechanics, high energy physics, string theory, atomic physics, quantum field theory, quantum information, mesoscopic superconductivity, etc.
