SOPM 2026

Summer Outreach Programme in Mathematics (SOPM) is an annual feature of School of Mathematical Sciences, NISER. It is aimed to train motivated students who are interested to pursue a research career in mathematics and have relatively less exposure to mathematics.

Application

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Students of IIIrd / IVth year of B.Sc. (H) Mathematics
  • Students of Ist year of M.Sc. (Math)
  • Students pursuing any equivalent course curriculum

Students interested to participate in the programme may fill up the Google form.
Last date of application is: April 05, 2026 (Sunday).

Apply to Participate

Tentatively 40 students can participate in the programme. A selection procedure may be followed to shortlist the applicants. The selected list of applicants will be made available on this website in 2 phases latest by April 20, 2026.

Special Lectures

Few special lectures will be given by an eminent Mathematician.

Accommodation & Travel

Accommodation will be provided to the participants in NISER Hostels.
All participanting students are entitled for sleeper class train fare via the shortest route from their place of stay. NISER will take care of the hospitality (food, accommodation, medical facility).

Reaching the Venue:

NISER Bhubaneswar is located at Jatni, which is around 30 km from Bhubaneswar City/Railway station (BBS). The nearest railway station is: Khurda Road Junction (KUR), which is around 5 km from NISER. One can avail auto-rickshaw service or state-run road transportation buses from both the train stations (towards Khurda) to reach NISER. See Map
