Summer Outreach Programme in Computing

SOPC 2026

Summer Outreach Program in Computing (SOPC 2026) is an outreach program aimed at motivating undergraduate or early-graduate students for higher studies and research, by exposing them to fascinating aspects of computer science and computing in general. We plan to select approximately 40 students. Accommodation and food will be provided to all the selected students.

The major themes to be touched upon are as follows.
TOPICS
Data structures and Algorithms (DSA):
Some relatively advanced concepts of programming and data structures will be covered, along with algorithm design and analysis. (Only basic familiarity with 'Python' will be assumed).
Probabilistic algorithms (PA):
Basics of probability and computing will be covered, with an emphasis on the applications in algorithm design.
Algebra and its applications (AnA):
Some cool applications of algebra in computation will be showcased. Only basic mathematical background (class 12) will be assumed.

Application

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Final or pre-final year bachelor or masters students of CS or Maths programme are eligible to apply.
  • Students are expected to have done at least one basic course in programming. Some exposure to data structures and algorithms such as basic algorithms for sorting and search would be helpful.

Students interested to participate in the programme may fill up the Google form.
Last date of application is: April 19, 2026 (Sunday).

Apply to Participate

Tentatively 40 students can participate in the programme. A selection procedure may be followed to shortlist the applicants based on background and suitability. The selected list of applicants will be made available on this website tentaively by April 30, 2026.

Important Dates

  • Application Opens: 16 March, 2026
  • Application Closes: 19 April, 2026
  • Final List of Selected Participants (tentative): 30 April, 2026
