Responsibilities :
    The task of ACCU is to advise the Director General on the practical measures to be taken and administrative internal arrangements to be made by the CERN Management for the utilization of the CERN facilities for research. Responsibilities :
    Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme in Sciences (including Medical and Engineering Sciences) of UGC has been running successfully from the past 11 years. The basic idea is to inculcate postdoctoral culture in our University system. These Fellowships are tenable for 3 years at University Departments (Fellowship amount: Rs. 43,400 p.m. plus HRA as applicable with a contingency grant of Rs. 100,000 p.a.). The candidates upto 35 years are eligible for selection. In general, the candidates are expected to work in a place different from the place of their doctoral work preferably on a newer research topic. Act as referee for the prestigious Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship of the UGC in sciences.

Responsibilities of Senate IISER, Berhampur:
  • frame and revise curricula and syllabi for the courses of studies for the various Academic Departments or Disciplines or Centres or Schools;
  • make arrangements for the conduct of examination, declare the results of the examinations or to appoint Committees or officers to do so and to make recommendations to the Board regarding conferment or grant of degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions or titles;
  • appoint Advisory Committees or Expert Committees or both for the Academic Departments or Disciplines or Centres or Schools and the Academic Centres of the Institute to make recommendation on academic matters connected with the working of the Academic Departments or Disciplines or Centres or Schools. The Head of the Academic Departments or Disciplines or Centres or Schools concerned shall act as convenor of such Committees;
  • appoint Committees from amongst the members of the Senate, other teachers of the Institute and experts from outside to advise on such specific academic matters, as may be referred to any such Committee by the Senate;

XI SERC School on Experimental High Energy Physics : Director

This school is the 11th in the series of such schools organised to impart the key concepts on various topics related to Experimental High Energy Physics (EHEP), primarily to PhD students in their early careers of research in the field. The school provides training through a set of pedagogical lectures on selected topics supported by tutorial sessions. There are dedicated sessions organised where students will have working experience on topics related to detectors, electronics, data analysis techniques, event generators, Monte Carlo methods and detector simulations. The lecturers are drawn from various Institutes and Universities of repute. In addition, in the evenings, eminent scientists are invited to deliver colloquia level talks on recent and future directions in EHEP. The spokesperson will be the leader of Indian group in the STAR experiment at RHIC-BNL and ALICE at CERN. The ALICE and STAR India group which the spokesperson leads consists of the following institutes: Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre -Kolkata; Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics -Kolkata; Institute of Physics -Bhubaneswar;NISER-Bhubaneswar; Rajasthan University, Jaipur; Panjab University, Chandigarh; Aligrah Muslim University -Aligarh; Guwahati University, Guwahati; Bose Institute, Kolkata; Jammu University, Jammu; Indian Institute of Technology -Mumbai; Indian Institute of Technology -Indore; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; DAV College, Chandigarh; Calcutta University, Kolkata; IISER-Tirupati; IISER- Berhampur and Indian Institute of Technology - Patna. It is a collaboration of about 100 physicists, scientists, PhD students, Engineers, PDF and masters students.

Responsibilities includes taking all Scientific and administrative (includes publications, authorship, talks, beam requests, triggers, appointment of convenors of physics working group, analysis coordinator, other committees) decisions regarding function of the Collaboration consisting of 600 Collaborators from 54 institutes and 14 countries.

Physics Analysis Coordinator of STAR Experiment at the Relativistics Heavy Ion Collider Facility, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York, USA [ 2008 - 2010 ]

Responsibilities includes - Main authority whose consent if neccessary for publication of a physics paper and contents of talk/proceedings by collaborator at any conference/symposium/workshop on behalf of the collaboration. Main person resonsible to guide the collaboration with scientific ideas, analysis projects and leader in providing physics dirrection. Main person responsible to maintain the published data records, information and database. Main person responsible for forming various committees for vetting physics results.

Member of Talks Committee of STAR Experiment at the Relativistics Heavy Ion Collider Facility, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York, USA [ 2008 - 2010 ]

Responsibilities includes - to advice the Spokesperson and/or choose a suitable candidate among more than 400 Physiscits in the STAR experiment, to present its scientific results at various conferences/symposiums/meetings.
