It is my great privilege to invite you all to the first "Symposium of Magnetism and Spintronics (SMS-1)" organized by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), India. The aim of the symposium is to promote a stronger interaction between the national and international scientific communities pursuing research and development in the area of magnetism and/or spintronics. The technical programme will consist of invited talks from eminent speakers from India and abroad. In addition, participants can also go for oral and poster presentations.
NISER, Bhubaneswar, the venue for SMS-1, is located at Jatni in the Khurda district of Odisha. Bhubaneswar is the capital city of the Indian state Odisha. It is also known as the temple city with more than 150 ancient temples. The city is envisioned to be the smart city ranking number one in India by 2022. It is the hub of many educational institutes of national importance such as IIT, AIIMS, IMMT, IOP, KIIT, RPRC, etc. It is surrounded by numerous picturesque and world heritage sites such as Chilika, Puri, Konark, Lingaraj temple, Peace Pagoda (Dhauligiri), Khandagiri, Udayagiri, etc.
This year, due to the global pandemic, we have restricted the symposium to the online mode only. In future, we aim to organize SMS, in person, every two years in different cities of India.
On behalf of the organizing team of SMS, I invite you all for an active participation and contributions to the symposium.
