Maintaining Optimal Conditions: Our Dedicated IVC System for Disease-Free Animal Housing, Enhanced with Efficient Cage Changing Stations. We prioritize the well-being and health of our research animals by providing an advanced IVC (Individually Ventilated Caging) system. This state-of-the-art technology ensures a controlled and sterile environment, free from contaminants.
Our Clean Receiving Rooms Equipped with Pass-Through Autoclaves and Ovens. Our commitment to maintaining a pristine environment begins at the very first step. With cutting-edge pass-through autoclaves and ovens, we guarantee the highest levels of sterilization for equipment and supplies entering our animal facility.
Our animal house is equipped with a dedicated surgical room preparation area, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and sterility for surgical procedures. This well-designed space allows for meticulous pre-operative preparations enabling safe and efficient surgeries to be conducted. Researchers and veterinarian can rely on the specialized facility to ensure the best outcomes for their animal subjects.
The Animal Facility at School of Biological Sciences, NISER is a central facility involved in procurement, breeding and experimentation on laboratory animals to meet the requirements of the scientific groups. It provides animal models, veterinary care and research support to the students and faculty. At present, the facility is rearing and breeding Zebra finches and rodents including genetically modified and immunocompromised strains for experimental purposes. In addition the facility is also being used to train various students, staff and members of faculty/scientist at NISER and other institutes of the country.
The facility is registered with CPCSEA bearing registration no. No. 1634/GO/ReRcBiBt/S/12/CPCSEA for " Research for Education purpose, Research for Commercial purpose, Breeding for in-house use, Breeding for the purpose of trade" . The facility works as per the guidelines of CPCSEA to ensure excellent animal care, humane handling and treatment.
