The Drama and Music Club of NISER, Bhubaneswar was formed for the purpose of joining together people who share a common appreciation for art and share ideas and help each other develop these co-curricular skills. Our Club introduces students into the magical world of theater and music, where they can explore a range of fun activities whilst developing and increasing their artistic knowledge amidst the monotonous academic schedule. The unanimous appraisal and inspiration received after the performances on Independence Day, Koffee with Kishore, Prelude, Theatral, Cultural Nite and many more events greatly inspired the members to work towards new ideas. DMC is a lot more than a mere group of musicians and dramatists. It celebrates the beauty of expressions, culture and art in myriad ways. Be it rendition of retro music through Koffee with Kishore, carrying forward of the rich legacy of dramatics through Theatral , promoting Indian heritage through SPICMACAY NISER Chapter or encouraging young musicians through a battle of music from all genres in Prelude, DMC has been pivotal in bonding a number of people with diverse interests and background into a family. Here at DMC, we endeavor to provide a platform for young motivated individuals to nourish their skills and provide our audience an experience of various art forms to treasure in their hearts. Our club brings together all the acting and theater enthusiasts to experience the theater environment from script writing to acting. A plethora of talented individuals join every year to take forward the rich legacy in dramatics. From writing play, to direction and to performance, members get to learn the skills required for each of these jobs. We believe that music has a deeper meaning which resonates with our hearts. We are a large group of people who play/sing or listen to good music which isn't genre specific. The primary aim of the coding club NISER is to bring people who prefer a code-first approach to problems together and help others appreciate this philosophy. Our activities include (but are not limited to) programmeming tutorials for beginners, competitive programmeming contests, capture-the-flag-like contests, talks on various ideas in theoretical computer science as well as practical applications, and other competitions related to web development and creative coding. The software development group is a part of the CCN, whose responsibility is to develop applications useful for students at NISER, examples of which are the NISER canteen menu and the NISER archive. We also collaborate regularly with the RoboTech club to work on projects that require interfacing hardware and software. During the intra-NISER fest Umang and inter-college fest Tvisha, we organize a competitive programmeming contest or a hackathon. The activities of CCN have motivated a lot of students to take up coding, and it will continue to do so.
